Happy Halloween!!!

Even though today is technically Halloween, it is a sunday in Rexburg, so everyone celebrated (Trick or Treated) yesterday. We weren't planning on taking Kaiden trick or treating because he is soo small we thought we would look like moochers plus the weather has been really cold and Kaidens betime is 6 :30, so 3 stikes against it. BUT we walked to our car the other day and had a flyer on it promoting trick or treating at Fats Cats (a bowling alley/ movie theatre/ mini golf place.) They were going to have local businesses set up booths and pass out candy for the kiddos and coupons for the adults. lol. And we didnt feel like that would be mooching too bad and it started at 5 pm and it was all inside! SCORE! At first Kaiden wasnt sure what was going on but once he got the hang of it he was signing candy to everyone and holding out his hands for candy! lol. He refused to let go of his lil bucket of goodies! He also loved seeing all the other kids that were there all dressed up. He was having the time of his life! The whole thing took maybe 45 minutes so it was all just perfect. And Kaiden got just the right amount of candy. =)

Even the police and firemen were there!! In this picture Kaiden was watching the firemen extend the truck's ladder! They also had the flashing lights going!

Holding daddy's hand.......

Holding mommy's hand......

Kaiden picking out his candy! He was very gentle with it and only took one piece everytime! haha.

The aftermath of a Hershey's Kiss!
Candy makes my baby happy!! =D So cute!!!
The spoils of the night! Including a toothbrush! lol
Afterwards we got Kaiden all calmed down and put him to bed. Then Darren and I snuggled up and watched The Village. I love that movie. It was a great way to end the fun filled day!
Later today Brooke and I are going to put on a Halloween dinner for our lil families. It will be really fun and I will have to come back and update and add pictures as to how it all went. Wish us luck!
Happy Halloween!!

"He" Kicked Me!

I've been feeling what I thought, but wasnt sure, was the baby moving the past few days! But the big ol kick "he" gave me today verified what I had been thinking. This is when the pregnancy starts to get really fun! And although we wont find out the sex for about 5-6 more weeks, I thought it would be fun to list some old wives tales to see if any of them turn out to be true!
Here goes:
1. Our baby's heartbeat is closer to 150 meaning- BOY
2.I'm craving Sweet food- GIRL
3.My face hasn't gotten any "rounder"- BOY
4.Mayan Tale (add the mother's age and year of conception)- Even, meaning GIRL
5.More break outs (most likely due to all the sweets)- GIRL
6.Kaiden's first word was "momma"- GIRL
7.I don't eat the heel of the bread- GIRL
8.Chinese Gender Chart says: BOY
9. If the mother feels less attractive- GIRL (this didnt happen with Kaiden though)
10. I had a dream we were having a boy- GIRL
11. I'm more clumsy than graceful, but that hasnt changed!- BOY
12.I prefer to sleep on my right side- GIRL
13. Darren is gaining "sympathy weight"- GIRL haha.
14.mother's intuition which is about 71% accurate- BOY
15. I had no morning sickness, just nausea for 2 weeks- BOY
16.I've been craving oranges or orange juice- GIRL
17. my feet (and body, really) are colder- BOY
18. my hands are less dry than normal- GIRL
19. I've been craving fruit- GIRL
20. my hair is growing at the same rate , if not slower- GIRL
21.when I asked the "Magic 8 Ball" if we were having a girl it said "Outlook Not So Good"- BOY

Okay now to tally, BOY- 8 GIRL- 13
That being said, I'm still 90% sure it's a boy! And since Old Wives tales have only been proven 50% of the time and a mother's intuition has been proven 71% of the time, I win again!
My mom, my friends Laura and Nicole, my aunt and Darren all claim it's a girl. But me and one of Darren's aunts agree it's a boy! I guess we'll find out sooner or later. I'm just glad they have ultrasound machines! I can't believe those girls who want to wait until their baby is delivered to find out. I would feel so stressed out like I could never be prepared enough. lol. Plus I only have boy stuff so if it was a girl I would have to go out and do lots of shopping whereas I'd rather be at home getting to know her. And dont get me started about decorating the room! lol. Thats like the best part! Oh well, to each their own. I had a friend recently do it that way. The way I figure it, is that it's a surprise whether you find out at 20 weeks or 40 weeks. It all comes down to how prepared you want to be.
Anyways, I really wish I had started this blogging thing when I was preggo with Kaiden cause there is already so much I've forgotten about my pregnancy with him. All I remember is he was kicking at 13 weeks. He hiccuped ALOT. We found out he was a "he" at 17 weeks. That he was delivered 2 weeks early and that I had a lot more morning sickness with him. I was also alot more tired and craved french fries and soda day and night. During my 2nd trimester with him I was disgusted by chocolate, which is sooo weird for me. And in my 3rd trimester I loved LOVED chocolate shakes with Oreo pieces! yummmm! I also "knew" his personality. I cant describe it but I just knew he was going to be very active, advanced and alert and he has been since the day he was born! With this baby I feel more of a balanced personality, calm and energetic but not as much as Kaiden. lol I guess we'll see!
I'm excited to be able to look back and read my pregnancy blogs. One day we will have these blogs all printed into a family journal so sorry if not all of these things are interesting to everybody, but they were important enough for me to want to remember them! =)
Well, TTFN!

What a cold, fun FALL Day!

Today I had a baby appt, with the most amazing baby Dr. in Rexburg! It was one of the short and sweet visits. I got to hear the heartbeat, which was 150 bpm. Going off the Old Wives' Tale we are going to have another boy! Everyone has been telling us it's going to be a girl but we just know its going to be a little brother for Kaiden! I also had to ask the Dr if it's possible to get Braxton Hicks in your lower back, turns out it is! I never had them with Kaiden but I had read about them and how they felt so I was pretty sure thats what they were. I've had them 2 times in the past 2 weeks! Crazy Crazy!
When I got home I made sure Darren took a few 14 week preggo pics for me. I'm not sure Im showing yet, just full feeling. lol. (It must have been the lunch at Winger's just before! haha.) But I'm sure I will be popping soon! Here they are!

Pushing the belly out! lol

Goofy Pose!
On to Kaiden... I think we are finally developing a solid routine. I love routines! He gets up at 8 am and takes a nap from 11 am- 12:30 pm. Then he goes to bed at 6 pm! Its been pretty great the past few days! Im still missing the days I had 3 extra hours to myself but thats okay. He's worth the sacrifice!

Mama and her silly baby!

Handsome Daddy!

Laughing while playing in the leaves!
Although it was a pretty cold day here in the (Ice-) Burg. We bundled Kaiden up and took him outside to play in the leaves. Which he turned out to LOVE! No surprise there! When we finally took him inside because it was getting just too cold, he kicked and screamed! He just loves it outside. Im thinking I'm going to hate this winter more and more!

Enjoy the video!!!

Trick or Treat?

So if you haven't heard by now, Kaiden is going to be a big brother!! We announced our pregnancy on Friday to our parents and then the rest of the family on Saturday! We are excited to add another to our family. As of right now we are 14 weeks pregnant and due on April 26th of 2011. Kaiden and the new baby will be 20 months apart. Hopefully I will have Kaiden potty trained by then, but here's to hoping!
We announced the pregnancy in what we thought was a super cute way, around Halloween and through my costume! As you can see in this photo! We emailed the picture out to our parents and signed "Happy Halloween from Darren, Chelsea, Kaiden & Baby!!!" Everyone else on saturday got to see us in person!

So far this pregnancy has been completely different in EVERY way than my first. The only time I have thrown up was when I got the nasty 24 hr stomach bug! How ironic is that? Kaiden was made of french fries and soda pop and this baby is being made of everything sweet and sugary and also salads of all sorts (but mostly Winger's Sticky Finger Salad!) haha. Since I feel so great with this pregnancy, I often forget I am pregnant! But dont think for a moment that I'm complaining! lol.

Well now everyone is in the loop!

Halloween Festivities!

As you all know by now, Halloween is my most favoritist holiday of the year...... besides my birthday! So it's no surprise that this whole month we have been doing Halloween themed Family Home Evenings! The first Monday we decorated our front window. We added fake spider webs and window clings and orange string lights and spiders. With Darrens smarts and my good looks we had put it up in no time. And it looks mighty fine! I love all the comments our friends and neighbors have given us regarding our window.

Our fancy window!

The next monday we made or I should say "attempted" carameled apples! We really shouldn't have cut corners and made homemade caramel but I thought we could take the easy way and reheat caramel candy pieces. Lets just say when it cools its hard as rock! lol. Oh well, it was a fun cheap project anyways and the main point is family time. Even though mine was inedible due to the rock hard caramel, I have got to say it looked delicious! I dipped mine in caramel then in white chocolate and then in Butterfinger piees. I got the idea from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Darren decided he was cooler than me and sliced his apples before dipping them in the caramel to eat right away. Haha.

Darren enjoying his caramel dipped apple slices!

Kaiden enjoying some caramel apple slices himself!

Before the "fancy toppings."

After the white chocolate and butterfinger fixins'.
Well last night was our 3rd Monday and we carved pumpkins! It was alot of fun! We started with Kaidens since we wanted him to be apart of it and it was close to his bedtime. Kaiden had fun playing in the guts, but mostly he just wanted to eat them! lol. Since his pumpkin was so small we carved a bat on his. Darren carved a creepy tree with the moon behind it on his and mine (which (and I may be biased here) think is the BEST) is a spider web with "Happy Halloween!" in the middle and a spider off to the side. I'll be sad when this month is over and when F.H.E ideas are harder to think of, no help from Rexburg's winter weather!

Kaiden pulling out the Pumpkin guts!

just call me Pumpkin Head!

After eating a bit of "pumpkin heel." lol

Mmmmmm Pumpkin Guts!!!

Pumpkin Fmaily!!!!!

Also I finished my Halloween cross stitch almost a month ago and have been meaning to post a picture of it. It is much better in person since you an really see the detail and all the beadwork I added, but at least you'll be able to get the gist of it.

Last week Rod and Darla called to invite us to their annual Halloween party! We are excited since its this saturday! Kaiden will have fun playing with all of the kids, plus he loves Rod and Darla. haha. We will also be spending the night at Grandma Joyce's and get to enjoy her company all day Sunday. I love mini vacations. =)
Okay, back to our family again. Last week out of NOWHERE Kaiden decided he no longer needed 2, 2 hour naps a day. He only wanted 1, 1 hour nap! Haha. So now I get to entertain him for an extra 3 hours a day! Which is alot when he's up from 8:30 am- 6 30: pm. He takes his 1 afternoon nap at 11:30. Its not even a long enough nap for the mama to recharge her batteries. lol. Kaiden still has his 100% energy all day long. So to burn off his energy I've been taking him to the park and for walks nearly every day. But with Rexburgs awfully cold winters, I dont know how long our nature walks can last! And now Im dreading this winter more than ever! haha. On a side note, Im enjoying helping Darren find Law Schools in warm sunny states! For a few minutes I get to day dream about living in Texas or California or Florida! Sunny year round! Yes, PLEASE! =) Of course our top choice is still BYU Provo's Law Program. We've even got a "back up" plan to go to the University of Idaho, which is borderline Washington and Idaho. Meaning worse winters than Rexburg! Thats why its a back up! Although we would be very close to my dad's family! Which is the only plus! lol. Tomorrow Darren's Pre-Law Society is takeing a school bus to BYU Provo for a HUGE Law School Fair. Hopefully by tomorrow night he will have a better idea of where he wants to apply. Its only a day trip but Kaiden and I will miss him tons and tons!!
Darrens schedule hasnt changed. He's at school from 8 am to 5 pm everyday. On wednesday night he goes to his Pre-law Society meetings and on Thursday and Friday nights he goes to work booting. On saturdays he sometimes goes to school to work on more homework or to practice the LSAT test. Thats why I love sundays! Cause he is ALL mine....... and Kaidens! lol
Well i think thats it for updates for now!

What a cute, goofy boy we have

Today Kaiden has been sooo cute! I thought I would write about it! Of course he's adorable every day but today he went above and beyond. Like when I was cooking on the stove and I had my left hand down by my side and he came right up and slipped his hand into mine to hold! lol Or the time I was laying on the couch and Kaiden had his binky in his mouth (which he NEVER has during the day but if he finds one somewhere its almost impossible to take it away from him) and he came right up to me and threw his binky to the ground and gave me a HUGE sloppy kiss. haha. He was also pretty goofy today, it seemed his mission this morning was to get Jozlyn to drink out of his sippy cup. He chased her for awhile with it! haha. Kaiden loves putting things in the trash can and he also likes trying to get things out of the trash can. Well he must have been really tired after chasing Jozlyn around all morning cause he reached in and pulled out Darrens XL energy drink and attempted to drink the nothing that was inside! He also found a Q-Tip from the floor and was trying to stick it in his ear! Crazy! Later this evening I was frosting some doughnut maple bars and I gave him a tiny piece and a few minutes later he comes right back for more. So just talking to him I say "Oh, do you want more?" and he busts out the "more" baby sign! lol Darren and I have BARELY gone over that sign with him so I was shocked that he pulled it out like that. He is pretty amazing! We are thankful everyday for the blessing he is to our family! He brings such love and laughter in our home! We love you baby boy!!!! <3
